Miley and her new tatt. (Instagram)Does Miley Cyrus’ new tattoo of arrows symbolize her love of “The Hunger Games”?
Although that would be a sweet gesture towards her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, one of the movie’s stars, her new ink holds a different meaning.
On Thursday, the 20-year-old showed off her new marking – two arrows criss-crossed, located on the back of her right tricep – which is a symbol of “friendship” in the Native American culture (two arrows that cross at the center represents the bringing together of two clans or two people).
The tattoo was first introduced to the public by Kat Von D, who created it especially for the former “Hannah Montana” star. “Loved tattooing @MileyCyrus yestrday!” she wrote on Twitter, along with a close-up Instagram shot of the brand new ink. “Simple symbols of friendship make beautiful tattoos.”

This is not the first tattoo that Cyrus, who is part Cherokee on her father’s side, has had inked, which is inspired by Native American tradition. She also has an enormous dream catcher on her right side that is a replica of one, “that hangs over her bed with four feathers to represent her four brothers and sisters," a friend of hers told People. "The dream catcher is to protect them."
Cyrus’ older brother, Trace, also has multiple tattoos that represent the siblings’ background, including the head of a Native American chief which takes up his entire back, the skull of a chief on the top of his left foot, and yet another chief on the left side of his head.
