Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard Take Hipster to the Extreme

There are hipsters and then there are Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard.

The stars were both photographed this week sporting new hairdos and outfits so, um, interesting that even their fellow Brooklynites might raise an eyebrow.

For the premiere of “Lovelace” at Sundance, Sarsgaard, 41, rocked a long-haired, creepy, 1980s lecherous professor look complete with a full beard and mustache. His clothes didn’t help matters – he wore a gray wool blazer over a printed shirt that looks like something from an Atari video game.

Maggie’s ensemble at the Dublin airport on Sunday gets a bit more of a pass, largely because she has daughters Ramona, 6, and Gloria Ray, 9 months, in tow.

Still, the super dowdy, mom haircut that the 35-year-old has to wear for the movie she’s working on in Ireland – “Frank,” also starring Michael Fassbender – is rather unfortunate. More unfortunate yet (and less excusable) are the huge red glasses topping of off the otherwise comfy cardigan look.

We can only hope Maggie lets her lovely brown locks grow back out in time for the film’s premiere.
