LeAnn Rimes Opens Up About Suicidal Thoughts, Cheating Fears
LeAnn Rimes sought treatment in rehab for emotional issues last August and, in a new interview, the singer reveals just how bad her state of mind was at the time.
During a sit-down with “Entertainment Tonight” which aired Wednesday, the 30-year-old opened up about her treatment for stress, anxiety, and depression, stemming from the ongoing criticism she has received for her extramarital affair with her now-husband Eddie Cibrian. Rimes candidly admitted that at the peak of her emotional problems, she battled suicidal thoughts.
“Of course, I think anybody could,” said Rimes when asked if she considered ending her life. “I think any smart person would know that it is always a possibility that you could always get that sad and deep.” However, “I worried that was a possibility, [but] I know I would never.”
Because Rimes and Cibrian, 39, started seeing one another when they were both married (to Dean Sheremet and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Brandi Glanville, respectively), the “Borrowed” singer admits that she worries her husband will one day cheat on her as well.
“I would be ignorant to say – and everyone else would think I am a liar – if I didn’t say yes, and I have at times,” she said.
Rimes added that Cibrian has the same concerns about her.“Speaking for him, I would actually say that’s creeped into his [mind]. ...I think we’ve been very honest and open with that to each other and our conversations about it have only made me understand how much he actually cares, as much as I do, about being faithful to each other,” she said.
As for her ongoing feud with Glanville – with whom Cibrian has two sons, Mason and Jake – Rimes called it "a very one-sided war” and said she’s tired of her rival’s criticism over Rimes calling her stepsons “my boys.”
"My heart overflows with love for those two boys,” she said. “I look at them and they are two little spitting images of my husband.” Further, “They're with us half the time – I am never going to let a child walk into my house and not feel the love that they feel at their mom's house. …I'm going to be a part of that love, that intense love."
And, we suspect, Rimes will be part of that feud – that intense feud – for the foreseeable future.
