Lamar Odom Charged With DUI Count

Lamar Odom was charged Friday with one count of driving under the influence, stemming from his August 30 arrest in Los Angeles's San Fernando Valley, according to the City Attorney's office.

He faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if he's found guilty.

Odom will be arraigned September 27 in Van Nuys, California. He's due back in court at 8:30 a.m.

The former NBA player (he's currently a free agent) was arrested at 3:54 a.m. on the Friday of Labor Day weekend, when his white Mercedes SUV was spotted on the 101 Freeway "driving in a serpentine manner, weaving all over the place in and out of lanes going 50 miles an hour in a 65 mile zone," according to the California Highway Patrol.

"(He) showed objective signs of driving under the influence and was unable to perform the field sobriety tests the officers asked for," the CHP continued. Additionally, they said that Lamar declined to take any blood alcohol content chemical tests at the time.

In California, the penalties for refusing a BAC test begin with a one-year suspension of your driver's license and a fine of $125.

Leading up to his arrest, rumors swirled about Odom's drug addiction, with multiple sources confirming to omg! that the athlete has been struggling with addiction for some time now. "Lamar likes to party. He always has," noted one insider.

On September 4, Odom checked into rehab but left the next day. When asked by a TMZ paparazzo if he had a drug problem as he was leaving a sushi joint in Studio City on September 9, Lamar mumbled, "Nah, I'm good."
