Lady Gaga’s Twitter War With Perez Hilton Turns Downright Ugly
Mother Monster is taking on the Queen of Media in the Twitterverse, and she's going for the jugular ... metaphorically speaking, that is.
In her latest message to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, Lady Gaga accuses him of stalking her and her family. But where did she get that idea, exactly?
Apparently, Hilton had swung by her New York City apartment building to look at an apartment he might be interested in buying. (Last time we checked, house hunting was not a crime.) Gaga didn't see it that way, however.
Sometime after Hilton and his son had left the building, she confirmed with security that he had been there and then hit up Twitter to express her (what shall we call it?) displeasure.
"STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" she blasted. "DO I NEED TO BE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HARASSES ME HAS GONE TOO FAR? IM A HUMAN BEING...I just want to make music+make people smile. Im sorry to all the fans who are trying to enjoy whats suppose to be a happy time. Gone too far."
But Hilton isn't backing down. After a few more mean words between the two — which included Perez retweeting Joseph Kahn's tweet that he had "never seen such awfulness" from any singer and Gaga accusing Perez of texting her a picture of herself in a wheelchair with the word KARMA written across it — the blogger released a lengthy statement to defend his actions.
"I love New York and that is where me and my growing family want to call home right now. Sunday, my realtor showed us a list of possible apartments to rent," Perez explained. "I learned only after the fact that Lady GaGa lives in one of the buildings we looked at, and she was across the country in Los Angeles when I viewed that building. After a day of innocent house-hunting, I am devastated and my heart hurts that my former very good friend, a person I used to call my 'wifey' and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter."
He goes on to point blame back at the singer. "While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a 'stalker,'" he states. "Any allegation that I am stalking her, based on a day of house hunting with my baby boy and my mother, is utterly false, defamatory and now appears to be putting me and my family in danger."
And Perez kicked off the new week with yet another dig at Gaga, tweeting, "Have you seen @LadyGaGa's new music video for Applause yet? Watch it and read what I think HERE: http://perez.ly/1akazoK What do U think?" Not surprisingly, he doesn't think much.
"The video is visually very compelling," he concedes on his blog post before adding, "Which actually draws attention to the fact that its' sadly much better than the song!"
While we aren't sure which of these two is winning this war, one thing seems clear: If Gaga used to be Hilton's "wifey," this is turning into one nasty divorce.
Stay tuned to their respective Twitter feeds as the back and forth continues.
