Kim Kardashian Channels Her Idol, Liz Taylor

Kim Kardashian is not lacking in self-esteem.

The reality TV star compared herself to late screen icon Elizabeth Taylor on Monday, posting a selfie recreating one of the violet-eyed Academy Award winner's memorable photos.

In the black and white pic, which was shot from the eyes up, Kim appears freshly showered — though with lots of makeup. Her hair is wrapped in a towel and she has one hand on her head, displaying her gigantic diamond engagement ring from Kanye West. However, we must point out that in the original photo, Taylor, who loved her diamonds, was sporting a 33-carat bauble, a gift from Richard Burton, which actually makes Kim's 15-carat rock appear small in comparison.

"My idol," Kim captioned the photo with a diamond ring emoticon next to it.

The 33-year-old has long admired the acting legend. In Feb. 2011, the women interviewed one another for a feature in Harper's Bazaar. The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star joked that she was "six husbands and some big jewels behind" Taylor, though she's made some strides in catching up, having been married once (to Kris Humphries) and engaged (to West) since.

When Taylor passed soon after, in March 2011, Kim said their meeting was one of "the greatest highlights" of her life. "I never felt so lucky and fortunate; it was truly the greatest honor and dream of mine to [meet] the iconic 'Elizabeth Taylor' for one day!"

Later that year, in Dec. 2011, Kim dropped $65,000 for a diamond bracelet that once was on La Liz's wrist and later auctioned by Taylor's estate.

While Kim's idol is Taylor, West compared her to another iconic star last month — Marilyn Monroe.

In a rambling interview with Power 105.1, he thanked the paparazzi "because they empower us over, ya know? They are empowering us over Vanity Fair that want to say that Kate Upton is Marilyn Monroe. Kate Upton ain’t Marilyn Monroe," he said referring to the magazine's October cover model. "Kim is Marilyn Monroe, you know that. She was controversial. She [is] controversial."
