Honey Boo Boo’s Mom Bans Family Friend From Show After His Arrest
An accused felon and a 6-year-old beauty queen just don’t mix.
That’s why June Shannon, mother of “Honey Boo Boo” Alana Thompson, has banned “Crazy Tony” – who was arrested for reckless conduct after he, along with six others, dressed in a gorilla costume and jumped out at drivers speeding along a Georgia highway in November – from appearing on their TLC reality series, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” effective this second season.
"We love him as a friend ... but that was a crazy story, Mama June tells TMZ. “Not trying to be mean, but we want to keep it family oriented.” And as for the uncertainty over whether or not Lindsey is a cousin of the Shannon-Thompson’s, she clarifies, “Crazy Tony's just a family friend ... who is just crazy."
But it’s unclear if “Crazy Tony” will still even be a friend, Tony himself told TMZ, “TV’s changed that family.”
When contacted by omg!, TLC had “no comment” on “Crazy Tony’s” ouster.
One less person on the show means more money for Mama June’s four daughters and one granddaughter. Earlier this month, she revealed that she has a trust fund set up for all five, which they cannot touch until they’re 21, unless the money is needed for education or a medical emergency. The family’s $15,000-$20,000 paycheck per episode is divvied up and “TLC puts the money into the girls' trust accounts for me and then I get an email telling me how much everyone gets,” she told TMZ. “I want my kids to look back and say, 'Mama played it smart. Not like those other reality TV people’ … You're never gonna see me drive a Range Rover or a Mercedes. I'll drive one if someone else pays for it. Never gonna live above my means."
