Honey Boo Boo Decks the Halls
Let the the holiday season officially begin!
Although it's not even Thanksgiving yet, radio stations are playing Christmas songs, stores are offering pre-Black Friday sales, and now, Honey Boo Boo and her brood have adorned the yard of their McIntyre, Georgia, home with elaborate decorations. The inflatable oversized snowman and reindeer stable, complete with a throne for Santa, and lights adorning the house would almost — almost — be enough to win the respect of "Christmas Vacation's" Clark W. Griswold.
The stars of TLC's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" have a tradition of going all out with their decorations. In the weeks leading up to December 25, they dress up Honey Boo Boo's dad Sugar Bear as Santa, Mama June as Mrs. Claus, and Honey Boo Boo as Santa's helper (Elvis Presley, strangely), and ask people to come by and donate to the needy in their neck of the woods. In 2012, on only one of the several trips they made to Walmart, the Thompsons spent $3,200 on toys for less fortunate kids.
Mama June explained the inspiration behind the act of kindness on one of last year's Christmas episodes.
"When we were in need, someone helped out me, so now I want to be able to help the next person," she said. "I was there one time. I didn't have Christmas for my kids. And it's not a fun experience as a parent to wake up to your child having nothing at Christmastime."
The only way we can think of improving upon this tradition is if Honey Boo Boo performed "Blue Christmas"!
