Honey Boo Boo Becomes a Girl Scout

Now she can sell Thin Mints and Tagalongs ‘till her heart’s content!

The Girl Scouts of the USA have welcomed their newest Brownie: Honey Boo Boo. The 7-year-old reality star (real name: Alana Thompson) and her family had been at odds with the organization for the past week after she was selling cookies on her Facebook page, which is against their rules.

But now, she’s a proud member of the troop she was helping earn a cookie badge.

"On Monday, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia welcomed seven-year-old celebrity Alana Thompson to Troop #60373,” the GSUSA tells omg! in a statement. “Alana’s wish to become a Girl Scout came true when she officially joined the same troop in which her best friend, Destiny, is a member. Alana’s Girl Scout Leadership Experience will allow her to discover more about herself, connect in positive relationships with others and take action about the things that matter most to her. She will also be able to participate fully in the iconic Girl Scout Cookie Program, which teaches key business literacy skills and entrepreneurism.”

On Tuesday, Honey Boo Boo shared her joy about joining the troop on her Facebook page. Along with a photo of the little star grinning ear to ear in a yellow T-shirt with the Girl Scout logo, the caption read: "Official GirlScout! She's so excited to be in the troop :)"

After the GSUSA halted Honey Boo Boo from selling their cookies online last week, she didn’t stop her pursuit to help out her local troop and spent hours at the Milledgeville Mall on Sunday convincing shoppers to fork over $3.50 for a box of the scouts’ infamous cookies. The plucky beauty queen even convinced some folks to buy five boxes … in exchange for a photograph with her.

Sounds like she has the makings of a successful Girl Scout … and future businesswoman!
