Got Vegan Breast Milk? Alicia Silverstone Wants to Share Hers Online

You can put "problem solver" down next to any list of descriptors for Alicia Silverstone.

The "Clueless" star, 36, saw a problem — her fellow vegans had difficulty producing enough breast milk to feed their children — and came up with a solution: an online group to help them share said breast milk.

You read that right — she's launching a website to help women share breast milk.

"Because we are a community of beautiful souls who recognize the importance of food as health, I say we help support those mamas and babies who need a hand during one of the most important times in their lives," Silverstone wrote on her blog. "It's why I'm starting the Kind Mama Milk Share, a way for moms to connect with other moms in their area. If you have milk to share —post it! If you are in need of milk — post it! Think of all the babies we can help raise together!"

The idea, she explained, stemmed from an email she received from a friend and new mom, who said she simply wasn't producing enough milk and couldn't trust that those offering donor milk shared the strict vegan diet.

Silverstone has been rather vocal about her unique parenting style since the birth of her son, Bear Blu, in May 2011. Ten months later, she famously posted a video sharing how she fed the tot straight from her own mouth with food she pre-chewed, a practice known as premastication.

While that sparked some controversy about whether or not such actions are hygienic, something tells us even more chatter will come from this Internet-fueled — and therefore unregulated — plan to share breast milk.

Silverstone isn't the only celebrity to make headlines for her interesting parenting methods. "The Big Bang Theory" star Mayim Bialik famously breastfed her children and shared a bed with them until after their fourth birthdays.

"Obviously the notion of an older child nursing is very strange to some people," Bialik told omg! last month. "In certain cultures it's not. And I was very careful about when and how I chose to breastfeed my older child. I put a lot of boundaries and limits around it and again took the guidance of women who had sort of walked this path before me … I think the notion of breastfeeding at all is still very controversial in some circles."
