It seems that "Girls" is growing up.
Given the cultural impact (for better or worse) that Lena Dunham’s HBO comedy has had since its freshman season, the network and its stars stepped up their game in unveiling season two.
The Cinema Society still played host, but this time upgraded their venue to NYU’s Skirball Center, where leads Dunham, Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Jemima Kirke hit the red carpet.

Looking every bit the DUMBO (down under the Manhattan Bridge overpass, an artsy sect of Brooklyn) princesses they play on TV, the Judd Apatow-produced series drew some famous fans for the premiere screening.
Michael Stipe, Questlove, Patrick Wilson, Solange Knowles, Felicity Huffman, Nicky Hilton, Andrew Rannells, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Zoe Kravitz turned up to see the latest exploits of the fictional Hannah Horvath and company.
Cast members Adam Driver, Christopher Abbot, and Rosanna Arquette (making her debut this season as Kirke’s on-screen mom) were counted for as well.
An after party followed at lower Manhattan’s stately Capitale, where Williams had a big kiss for on-screen nemesis Rannells and conversation turned boozy.
“I lose s—t a lot when I drink,” Alex Karpovsky, who plays Ray on the show, told The Cut.
“I hate shopping for clothes, it’s such a hassle, and when you find things you like – and I have four things that I like – and you lose one of them, and you lose a quarter of your wardrobe.”
Williams, daughter of NBC news honcho Brian Williams, is a bit more responsible when she imbibes – but she needs a wingman when it comes to bold moves like karaoke.
“If I knew that he could take it if I dropped a note, then yes, absolutely,” Williams said when asked if the drunken pastime would be better if duetting with co-star and Broadway vet Rannells.
Season two of “Girls” premieres January 13 on HBO.
