Luckily she said yes!
Samberg, 34, and 31-year-old Newsom – who plays the harp and piano and is also a singer-songwriter – have been dating for about five years. People first reported the engagement news.
As for how the couple met, "He liked her music and would go to her shows," a source told Us Weekly last June. "He had the biggest crush on her."
Samberg left “SNL” last year and has been focusing on his film career in recent years, starring in flicks including “That’s My Boy,” “Friends With Benefits,” and “Celeste and Jesse Forever.” He also hosted the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday.
The actor dabbles in his fiancée’s craft – music – as well, as a member of the comedy troupe band The Lonely Island. And his future wife is apparently pretty impressed with his talents! "She respects what he does with his songs," the Us insider said in the same interview. "She's so proud of everything that he has accomplished."
Maybe the groom can belt out a couple of parody tunes at the reception … after the grandparents have gone home, of course.
