Lauren Conrad is the latest Lucky cover girl. (Dewey Nicks/Lucky magazine)Lauren Conrad's life seems pretty perfect.
The former star of "The Hills," who turns 27 on February 1, has authored seven best-selling books, designed two clothing lines, and launched a beauty website, among other projects, and she's done it all while sporting glossy tresses and an impeccable wardrobe.
But in a new interview with Lucky magazine, where the mag let the readers ask the questions, LC opens up about some of the moments she'd rather forget. Yes, there really are some of those!
First, Conrad admits that the transition from star of MTV reality shows "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" to fashion designer was tough. While she's currently still working on her upscale Paper Crown line and the more casual LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's collection, her first clothing line – the Lauren Conrad Collection – was a flop, despite her training at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She believes her reality TV resume made the career change particularly difficult. It’s also one of the reasons why we'd be shocked if she appeared on a reunion special Audrina Patridge recently discussed on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show.
"The TV show did not help my reputation very much. It was difficult to be taken seriously," she notes. "But I think the fact that I went to school to study fashion and worked in the industry helped me. I think it's a good thing to feel like you have to prove something, because you're always going to have to work a little bit harder."
She also acknowledges that many of her style choices from those early years on TV were far from perfection.

"I try to never look back at how I dressed in the first few seasons of 'Laguna Beach' because it was pretty bad ... head-to-toe bad," Conrad laughs. "This past summer, MTV replayed every episode and I would always see it and be like, ‘Ahh, noo! I wore these capri denim pants a lot and they were so bad.’"
Oh, and even though she’s now the author of seven New York Times best sellers, her writing career didn’t take off immediately.
When a fan asks if she would ever consider writing a book on dating advice, Conrad, who's happily coupled with USC law student William Tell, reveals she's already thought about that, but the idea was (gasp!) rejected.
"The first book I pitched to HarperCollins (her current publisher) was a dating book and they did not want it, but I would love to write one," she shares.
Conrad has since penned a book about style, one about beauty, and five young adult novels inspired by her adventures on "The Hills."
So when a fan asks which accomplishment she's most proud of, it's no surprise that her answer involves those books.
"Making the New York Times best seller list was something that I was really proud of," she explains, "but I also think that the friendships I've maintained almost rank over that. I think it's rare to have a wonderful group of friends in this town."
There she goes, being all perfect again!
