It seems there's no happy ending in sight for "My Fair Wedding" host David Tutera and his soon-to-be ex Ryan Jurica -- at least anytime soon.
It all started to (publicly) fall apart when news broke that Jurica had filed papers in Connecticut on April 17 to legally end the domestic partnership. Things went from bad to worse, as details of the split emerged in which Jurica accuses Tutera of being -- drum roll please -- a sex addict.
"After repeated attempts at marriage counseling and therapy, we have been unable to save our relationship due to [Tutera's] addiction to sex," Jurica stated in his filing. But the allegations don't end there. Jurica also claims the celebrity wedding planner (who he claims takes home $1 million per year) had a habit of hiring prostitutes, and that the split, initiated by Tutera, sent him into a downward spiral that landed him in rehab.
In other words, he wants Tutera to pay that bill ... and probably a lot of others.
Two days later, on April 19, Tutera filed his own documents with the Los Angeles County Superior Court. In his version of events, Tutera cites the somewhat innocuous "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.
Beyond these disagreements, however, their filings also reveal the saddest detail of the separation: The two men are expecting the birth of twins via surrogate in July.
In his papers, the TV star seeks full legal and physical custody of the babies when they are born, limiting Jurica's interaction with them to scheduled visitation. Not surprisingly, Jurica is also demanding full custody of the unborn children.
In addition, Tutera makes it clear that he doesn't want to pay spousal support or any of Jurica's legal fees related to their split and division of property.
Responding to Jurica's accusations, Tutera issued a statement to omg! to set the record straight.
"The allegations against me are baseless and untrue and I will fight vigorously to defend my reputation in the court of law as well as the court of public opinion. I believe them to be fabrications of a desperate individual in order to gain a legal advantage in our separation."
He goes on to explain, "I am saddened by these developments; I am angered by the lies; and I am committed to moving beyond this painful moment to focus on my professional commitments and the upcoming birth of my children."
Only time will tell how the ending of this decade-long relationship will shake out, but hopefully both men can put their differences aside enough to focus on what really matters -- their soon-to-be-born twins.
