Did Nicole Kidman Recycle Anne Hathaway’s Oscar Dress?

Wondering why Nicole Kidman's dress looks so familiar?

The Cannes jury member stunned in an ivory lace Valentino Haute Couture gown at the "Nebraska" premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday, but we couldn't help but get a case of déjà vu. That's because Kidman's gown looks strikingly similar to the Anne Hathaway was originally supposed to wear to this year's Academy Awards. Remember all that drama? If not, let us give you a refresher.

The Best Supporting Actress winner made a last couture swap, opting to wear a pink Prada frock instead of a Valentino gown "with embroidered tulle illusion and a high neck." We know this, because Valentino sent out a detailed press release announcing Hathaway's choice the day of the Oscars.

Hathaway acknowledged the faux pas, later releasing a statement apologizing to her longtime friend Valentino Garavani — who even designed Hathaway's wedding dress in September 2012:

"It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans. Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused."

The similar dress in question by Alexander McQueen belonged to her "Les Mis" co-star Amanda Seyfried.

A rep for Valentino tells Us Weekly that Kidman's Cannes gown is not the same as Hathaway's original Oscars dress … but it looks identical to us!

What do you think of the Valentino creation on Kidman? Whether it really is Hathaway's discarded gown, it looks flawless on Kidman either way.
