Ain't nobody gonna disrespect Chaka Khan in rehab … especially not Lindsay Lohan!
According to Radar Online, however, that's exactly what happened.
Radar reports that the R&B legend was checked into the same rehab facility this summer, Cliffside Malibu, as the troubled young actress, but left early because she "couldn't stand LiLo's diva behavior!"
A source who attended rehab with Lohan and Chaka told the site that the "I'm Every Woman" singer was extremely put off by "The Canyons" actress's "disruptive" behavior. "Chaka was really cool about everything at Cliffside, but Lindsay just pushed all of her buttons to the point where she was aggravated and tired of Lindsay's s--t," the source said.
"Lindsay was just doing stupid stuff for attention, so Chaka told her she was childish and told her to grow up. She never lost it, but started yelling at Lindsay. Told her to knock it off, asking her if she came to rehab to get well, or just to piss around."
Things reportedly got so bad that the program's schedule had to be rearranged so that the two never found themselves together.
But take Radar Online's report with a grain of salt. The Twitter exchange that took place between the two women today tells a very different story.
This is not the first time Lohan has crossed paths with other celebrities in rehab. The first half of her 90-day court-ordered rehab stint this summer was spent at the Betty Ford Clinic in Rancho Mirage, California, where Charlie Sheen's ex Brooke Mueller was also a patient.
And it's not Khan's first trip to rehab either. She has sought treatment several times over the years for substance abuse problems.
Chaka took to her own website on Wednesday to confirm that she indeed was in rehab with Lohan. She addressed the reports directly in her own words, but didn't allow herself to get caught up in the fracas:
"To choose to do what is necessary to better one's self is commendable. I applaud Lindsay Lohan for doing the work," the singer writes. "She is a lovely young lady and I pray for her well-being. The battle of addiction is a serious and long process, which is why I chose to address my use of prescription medications — which came about as a result of the knee surgery I had a few years ago. When and if necessary, I will seek alternative methods and traditional treatment to stay ahead of any potential problem. So many are not here today, and have lost this battle with addiction. Because these medications are legal, their abuse is often unknown —until it's too late. If not handled they are a silent killer."
Spoken like a true class act!
Chaka is continuing to tour this summer. She's scheduled to play the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this coming Saturday, before heading out to Japan, where she will perform more shows at the end of the month.
