‘Dancing With the Stars’ Hottie Mugged at Gunpoint After Performance
Last Monday, as most of Hollywood was recovering from the day after the Emmys, Brant Daugherty was heading home after his second successful week as a contestant on Season 17 of "Dancing with the Stars."
The "Pretty Little Liars" actor, 28, and his partner Peta Murgatroyd, 27, had just survived the season's first elimination, earning a 23/30 in their second week, which placed them sixth on the leaderboard. But when the night was over, one of this season's biggest heartthrobs was in for quite the surprise.
After heading home, Brant was mugged at gunpoint outside of his apartment, People reports.
"After the show, I got dropped off and was walking up to my apartment building and a man followed me up with a gun and told me to give him my stuff," he tells the mag. "It was a complete random occurrence of events and it led up to one of the worst nights of my life – after having such a great night last week on the dance floor."
But the assailant didn't get much — just "a pair of workout pants, two T-shirts, dance shoes, a toothbrush and his cell phone," according to the magazine.
"Somewhere out there, there's a dancing thief with great teeth," he noted. "We like to joke that we changed his life. When he got my dance shoes, he swore away his life of crime and he's going to start doing the salsa now."
Peta told People that the experience has had quite the effect on his rehearsals this past week. "He came in the next morning ... and he was so flustered and emotional. I was like, 'Oh my Lord, he's had the worst time,'" she added.
Brant didn't disagree with that assessment.
"You don't really know how to react to something like that," the actor said. "You're laughing one minute, then you kind of get a little overwhelmed and start crying. Then you're laughing again …. It was kind of a roller coaster of a week."
Rumors are swirling that Brant and Peta are dating. This pic [left] snapped of the couple last week outside of their rehearsals certainly seemed to confirm things.
Last night, they survived one more week of elimination, as Bill Nye the Science Guy was sent packing, joining Keyshawn Johnson who danced away following the season's first swing of the proverbial "Dancing" axe.
