Neal Schon and Michaele Salahi (M. Salahi)
The untrue story in question, published in February, declared Journey guitarist Neal Schon to be a deadbeat dad who had allegedly abandoned his children with his ex-wife in order to buy a $1 million engagement ring for fiancée Michaele Salahi. The story originated from statements made on a personal blog by Schon's former mother-in-law, Judy Kozan of Minnesota, against whom Schon is taking further legal action.
"We accept that these allegations are untrue and apologise to Mr Schon, Ms Salahi and the family for any distress caused," the publication wrote in its statement. "We have agreed to pay Mr Schon and Michaele damages and legal costs."

"We are happy we received the apology from The Daily Mail, proving the story is false," Schon and Salahi tell "omg! Insider" exclusively. "Who the story originated from is disturbing and will be addressed next."
Schon filed a lawsuit against Kozan on March 18.
A victory over a British tabloid is a rare thing. Due to more relaxed laws, tabloids are allowed to get away with more than they would in the United States. However, the News Corporation phone hacking scandal, which reached a crescendo in 2012 and led to the company splitting into two separate entities, continues to experience fallout in the form of lawsuits.
One of the most high-profile lawsuits currently in the U.S. involves Tom Cruise, who is suing Bauer Publishing Company over claims made in its Life & Style and In Touch publications that he abandoned daughter Suri, his 6-year-old with ex-wife Katie Holmes. Cruise's attorney, Bert Fields, has said there would not be a settlement.
The entire apology to Schon and Salahi exists on The Daily Mail's website.
