Cha-Ching! Is Kris Humphries Auctioning Off Kim Kardashian’s Engagement Ring?
It looks like Kris Humphries might be cashing in further on his brief marriage to Kim Kardashian.
The Boston Celtics forward is said to be auctioning off the massive diamond engagement ring he put on the reality TV star's finger in 2011. Christie's auction house is holding a big jewelry sale in New York on October 15, and on the block in their "Bright & Beautiful" sale is a ring fitting the description of the bauble Humphries gave the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star.
"An impressive rectangular cut I color diamond ring of 16.21 carats, by Lorraine Schwartz (illustrated right ; estimate: $300,000 – 500,000), is being offered as the Property of a Gentleman with a portion of the proceeds to benefit a charity," reads the press release from Christie's, which includes an image of the remarkably similar looking ring.
So, is the "Gentleman" Humphries? Christie's isn't saying.
"We have a strict policy not to comment on any of our clients," a company rep tells omg!.
In addition to looking similar, the descriptions are very much the same. When the happy couple gushed about their engagement in May 2011, Kardashian showed off what was described as a 16.5-carat emerald cut diamond (a rectangle shape), which was flanked by 2-carat trapezoids – just like the picture. And she gushed to People magazine about how Schwartz "always listened to what I would want and the shapes I love. I had said I loved an emerald cut."
Omg! reached out to a rep for the jeweler, which has no comment.
It only makes sense that Humphries, who could not be reached for comment, would unload the ring. Their whirlwind romance had a now infamous bad ending. After a 90-day engagement, they tied the knot in a splashy wedding only to split 72 days later. Their divorce then took 535 days to finalize.
Kardashian is now a mom, welcoming her first child, daughter North, with boyfriend Kanye West in June. It's a new beginning for Humphries too — at least professionally. After being pulled from the Brooklyn Nets rotation in March, he was traded to the Celtics in June.
It sounds like before Humphries packed up and left New York City for Boston, he did a little housecleaning first. But we must admit, we were at least encouraged by the fact that at least some of the proceeds would benefit a charity — maybe some good is coming out of that marriage after all?
