Brooklyn Decker: I Auditioned for ‘Hunger Games’

Former Sports Illustrated model Brooklyn Decker is probably best known for gracing the cover of the 2010 swimsuit edition, but the gorgeous blonde says her modeling days are far behind her.

“I haven’t done any modeling in two years. If I were to do it again, it would be with [Sports Illustrated], but I don’t see that happening,” the 25-year-old dished to omg! at the world's largest shave and kiss event hosted by Gillette. “The traveling is wonderful and the people are wonderful, but without sounding horrible, with modeling you don’t feel as stimulated as you do when you get to really study something [like acting]. The challenges are different, so I definitely prefer it.”

Decker, who burned up television screens earlier this year with her cameo on “New Girl,” and also starred in the summer box office flop, “Battleship,” is already on the hunt for her next role.

“I auditioned for ‘Hunger Games,’” she revealed. “Not for the Katniss, but for a character in the second book that I loved.”

Not surprisingly, she’s a serious fan of the hit franchise.

“I read the books in three days, and cried. I worshipped the books. I was like, ‘I wanna be in the movie, I wanna do it.’”

Though we’re still trying to figure out which role she was up for – Cashmere, maybe? – sadly, she didn’t get the part.

“I was bummed, but it is not going to stop me from seeing it on opening night,” she smiled.

Despite missing out on a shot to appear in the blockbuster, she says it’s all part of showbiz.

“It happens all the time,” she shrugged. “I am learning that in this business, you can have a job, but things can fall through. It is a constantly evolving business.”

Not to worry though, the 5-foot-9-inch stunner has several projects in the works and hopes to nab more comedic roles in the future.

“I really like comedians. I like to be around funny people, and that’s why I think I am attracted to working with them,” she shared. “I love Robin Williams, because I think he’s a dramatic actor but still funny. Jim Carrey, the same thing.”

While her career is taking off, last year her husband of almost four years – tennis ace Andy Roddick – decided he was ready to retire after his final run for the U.S. Open in 2012.

“It is just nice because he gets more time to relax,” she noted. “He’s playing a ton of golf. He loves it.”
