Ben Affleck on February 28 (Splash News)Hey look – it’s a beardless Ben Affleck!
Days after making headlines for shaving off his “lucky” beard at an Oscars afterparty, the 40-year-old actor and director was spotted out for the first time on Thursday when he attended an event in Long Beach, California.
Dressed casually in jeans, a gingham shirt, and sport coat, Affleck’s thick “Argo” beard was definitely gone, but he wasn’t exactly smooth-faced. He was sporting some serious stubble.
Perhaps he hasn’t shaved since late Sunday night, when – at the urging of his wife Jennifer Garner, who hated his face fur – he buzzed it off with clippers that had been brought to a private party for “Argo” at Craig’s in West Hollywood.

“The family wanted him to shave,” a source at the party told omg!. “It took place in the hallway.”

The highlight no doubt was winning Best Picture for “Argo” on Sunday – 15 years after winning his first Oscar, with pal Matt Damon, for the “Good Will Hunting” screenplay.

Affleck’s beard wasn’t his only good luck charm during awards season. His two older children – daughters Violet and Seraphina — also frequently scribbled messages of love on his hands. Oscar night was no exception when he carried with him the message: "I heart Papa."
