Baldwin Blitz: Alec Goes on Crazy Rant After Wife Accused of Tweeting During Gandolfini Funeral

UPDATE: Alec Baldwin has apologized for his offensive tweets in a statement sent to GLAAD:

"My ill-advised attack on George Stark of the Daily Mail had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyone's sexual orientation. My anger was directed at Mr. Stark for blatantly lying and disseminating libelous information about my wife and her conduct at our friend's funeral service. As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologize.

"I have worked, periodically, with numerous marriage equality organizations, especially over the past couple of years, to achieve the very rights that gay couples are earning by recent court decisions. I would not advocate violence against someone for being gay and I hope that my friends at GLAAD and the gay community understand that my attack on Mr. Stark in no way was the result of homophobia."

In the wake of James Gandolfini's passing, we are all reminded that hell hath no fury like a Baldwin scorned.

After a report surfaced in London's Daily Mail accusing Hilaria Baldwin of tweeting during the funeral, the pregnant yoga instructor and her TV-star husband flooded the Twitterverse with denials, explanations, and, in true Alec-fashion, threats.

It all began with an accusation that Baldwin's better half sent a tweet at 10:17 a.m., musing, "The circle of life in unbelievable — birth, life, death… Please take care of yourselves as life is fragile. Rest in Peace, Jimmy."

A few minutes prior, at 9:53 a.m. Alec posted his own message, tweeting, "The end of THE SOPRANOS has a different meaning to me now. Rest in Peace, Jimmy."

Those timestamps would have been around the start of the service, but at 11:09 a.m. (right in the thick of things), Hilaria reportedly sent another, less appropriate tweet: "What did you do for your first wedding anniversary? What did you give your partner? Ours is coming up!"

Umm. Wasn't she supposed to be mourning the dead and all that? Hilaria soon returned to Twitter to defend herself.

"FYI I don't believe in bringing phones into a funeral and I never did and I never would," she wrote.

This was followed a few hours later with a simple explanation: "Here is some info… When someone tweets something at a certain time, and you retweet it later, it posts the TIME the first person tweeted."

But then her tone changed as she moved from defense to offense.

"It is shameful the bullying that the internet allows for. 'Reporters,' 'publications,' and anonymous posters," she wrote. "Rage, greed and pettiness hurt." She then sent a few more Tweets in which she calls out for his "poor journalism" and explains, "Lying and bullying are shameful."

But it was Alec who really melted down. In a series of angry, threatening — and arguably homophobic — tweets, the Emmy-winner defends Hilaria's honor, and promises to get revenge on the reporter responsible for the story. Here are some highlights:

"My wife and I attended a funeral to pay our respects to an old friend, and some toxic Brit writes this f***ing trash ... If put my foot up your f***ing ass, George Stark, but I'm sure you'd dig it too much."

And, perhaps the most shocking of all was the tweet declaring, "I'm gonna find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I'm gonna f***… you… up."

Yes, he wrote that. No, it probably wasn't the best idea.

A spokesperson for the couple issued a statement (not on Twitter!) explaining, "It's disgraceful that this reporter manufactured a story and never called for comment or explanation — especially when it needlessly diverted attn. away from a day to honor the memory of a beloved figure like James Gandolfini."

He added that Hilaria "is 7 months pregnant and left the service early to get water because it was very warm inside the church," and offered three alternative scenarios that would explain the timestamps. "1) some of the time stamps in the report were wrong b/c [the reporter] listed the time of the original tweet, not the retweet; 2) she left early and wasn't in the service at the time of tweeting; 3) it's possible that a previously scheduled tweet wasn't cancelled."

Though Alec tweeted, "I don't have a publicist anymore. I fired them," the spokesperson insists otherwise. Either way, Alec's Twitter account has since been shut down — so everyone can breathe a sigh of relief.

Everyone except George Stark, that is.
