After mingling with host Elton John himself, Brown held court with a smoking crowd outside the restrooms discussing his latest album and the photographers he'd like to use for its various promo shoots. Entertaining two girls and two guys, Brown seemed content to stay on the fringe of the big screening -- one that saw a major reaction to the show's original song performances by Adele and Barbra Streisand.

The symbol of the Academy Awards, of course, is the Oscar statue. And the acclaimed actors who have won the coveted prize over the years would probably say the trophy is priceless, but how much is the iconic trophy really worth? The value of the 24-karat gold-plated statue is tied with the price of gold, which is currently about $1,600 per ounce. According to The Hollywood Reporter, that means that each of this year’s 50 statuettes from manufacturer R.S. Owens is worth about $900. That’s a whopping total of $45,000 in Oscar gold for 2013.
