Nicole Scherzinger on the cover of ShapeWhen you've been lead singer of a group called the Pussycat Dolls, chances are you have a pretty good body. And that's certainly the case with Nicole Scherzinger. The new "X Factor" judge, however, tells Shape magazine that she's done with dieting these days.
"Actually, I eat -- a lot!" she insists. (Don't hate her!) "Even with my crazy schedule, I never skip meals." A typical breakfast includes soft-boiled eggs, smoked salmon, and whole-wheat toast for breakfast, while she'll have cold cuts, veggies, and fruit for lunch; and usually chicken or fish with rice and more vegetables for dinner.
She may have a healthy outlook on diet and fitness now, but it wasn't always that way for the 33-year-old, who says she started jogging and counting calories when she was just 14. "I've been on every diet you can imagine. By the time I was in the Pussycat Dolls, I was on the scale all the time," she admits. "I'm more accepting of my body and have learned to really embrace it. These days it's all about finding balance. My new motto is: 'Stay active, eat everything in moderation, and stop being so tough on myself.'"
But like all of us, moderation occasionally morphs into overindulgence (via specialties from her native Hawaii, like Kalua pig or banana pancakes with coconut syrup), and Scherzinger turns to one of the things she does best to lose those extra pounds: dancing.

"When I'm getting ready for a tour or a video shoot, I throw myself full throttle into my work, and those extra 10 pounds just seem to melt off," she explains. "I also have a resistance workout that does wonders for my arms and abs."
Since Scherzinger is no stranger to reality television -- she won a talent competition show called "Popstar" back in 2003 and strutted her stuff on "Dancing With the Stars" last year -— it made sense that she get a turn as a judge on Fox's singing competition "The X Factor," along with former "American Idol" judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul and record exec and producer L.A. Reid. According to Scherzinger, they make the perfect team.
"I think we're a good mix. Simon is empowering and encouraging. L.A. is very giving and inspiring. And Paula is as sweet in person as she seems on TV. As for me, well, sometimes I'm nice, and sometimes I'm not."
