The horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, that took the lives of 28 people, 20 of those being children from the ages of 5 to 10, has left the entire nation heartbroken today. And some celebrities, including parents Jessica Alba, Hilary Duff, Christina Applegate, and Kevin Bacon have expressed their sorrow, shock, and disbelief through tweets that offered up prayers and condolences to those affected by the tragedy.

It’s been reported that the gunman is 20-year-old Adam Lanza, whose mother Nancy was a either a teacher or an aide at the elementary school, located just 65 miles northeast of New York City. After the rampage, which began in the school’s main office and continued on in a kindergarten classroom, Adam Lanza was found dead, although it’s unclear at this time if he took his own life. Police have also discovered the body of an unknown adult at the Lanza family home. ABC News reports it is Nancy Lanza.

After it was reported by TMZ on Friday that the ex-wife of Charlie Sheen and mother of his 3-year-old twin boys had overdosed on drugs, her rep Steve Honig – who coincidentally or not just quit as Lohan’s mouthpiece – explained, "An assistant thought Brooke was non-responsive while she was napping and hastily called an ambulance. As a precaution, Brooke was brought to a local hospital and discharged after an hour. She was diagnosed with exhaustion and dehydration and is now fine and resting at home. That's it."

Were they glad she came? Lindsay Lohan made a surprise appearance backstage at the Jingle Ball concert in Philadelphia on Wednesday night … where The Wanted just happened to be performing. Coincidence? We think not. According to reports, the actress made the two-hour drive from New York City just to catch the boy band’s set, a week after she saw them open for Justin Bieber at Madison Square Garden. For someone who wants to be left alone by the general public, Amanda Bynes sure knows how to command attention. The “retired” actress, who hasn’t been seen in weeks since she fled Los Angeles for New York in September after a string of bad driving incidents, came out of hiding on Wednesday looking better than she has in a while … but still acting very strangely. Bynes, whose dark hair is now a golden hue and extra long thanks to extensions, accidentally stumbled upon a group of photographers waiting to snap a picture of Justin Bieber while walking down a New York City sidewalk. Once she realized her mistake, she immediately tried to cover her face with her scarf, but it was too late.
