If you're wearing cat ears or a butt-cheek-baring nurse's uniform, or fake blood splattered over your polo, say goodbye to ever winning "Most Unique Halloween Costume." And that goes for you too, Hollywood.
Amid a feast of redundant and oh-so-expected outfits, there exist a few blessed visionaries who take this holiday seriously (and, by seriously, we mean not at all seriously and also overflowing with swag). The following celebs put together A-plus outfits — and that's only half the work. They also selfied and smized them just right.
1. Patrick Stewart
Upon seeing this photo, the new nirvana is to be able to call someone "Sir" and have that someone be a smiling lobster in one's bathroom bathtub. Let us know if you make it.
2. Nicole Richie and pal
FINALLY, A chill female who flaunts cute sans a push-up bra, AND embraces her shawty height without shame beside her macho friend! Kudos to Harlow and Sparrow's mom for this homage to the 1988 flick "Twins," starring Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger as, you guessed it, twins. Take note: costumes that come in pairs don't have to be R-rated, y'all!
3. Miley Cyrus
May the odds be ever in your … tattoo?
Fashion model Ireland Baldwin leapt into adulthood, turning 18 this past Wednesday, and the daughter of Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin wasted no time asserting herself as a full-fledged grown-up. Not only did she fly the coop by moving into her own L.A. beach house but she also marked her legality with fresh ink.
First sharing a photo of herself at the tattoo parlor on her Instagram, the selfie star then tweeted a pic with her new ink: an arrow on the upper left side of her arm.
Her inspiration? We can't be sure – a rep for the blond bombshell declined to comment – but we immediately were reminded of Ireland's love of "The Hunger Games" and couldn't help but wonder if Katniss Everdeen was her muse. We weren't alone in this – one Instagram user commented on her pic, "very Katniss #katnisschronicles hunger games."
Here's Johnny! Or did we mean James? What if "The Shining" starred actor James Marsden instead of Jack Nicholson?
We caught up with the "Anchorman 2" star as he helped launch the new Skylanders SWAP Force video game feature — which involves swappable heads and bodies — at Toys 'R' Us in Times Square. Since such a physical swap was the name of the game, we had to ask Marsden which celebs he'd want to trade heads and bodies with.
"It would be fun to have Jack Nicholson's head for a while, right? That'd be interesting," he said. "He's just got one of those iconic faces."
While we're curious what the 40-year-old star would do with those infamous eyebrows — would he hide them behind shades? — we won't be seeing James buying any sort of Jack in a box Halloween costumes anytime soon. And that goes for his 12-year-old son, also named Jack, as well.
"We have a rule that our costumes need to be home made. We're not big on the packaged stuff," he explained. "We've gotta make them. Even if they're not great, they're one of a kind."

If looking good really is the best revenge after a breakup, Liam Hemsworth might just deserve a medal.
Turning up at the Hugo Boss flagship store opening in New York City wearing a slick black suit, the Aussie actor made his first public appearance since officially announcing his split from fiancée Miley Cyrus last week. And his independent debut was nothing short of impressive.
Sporting some of the label's latest designs, the 23-year-old bachelor scintillated in a fitted, three-piece suit complete with a pin striped shirt. His styling proved he doesn't overlook the details – see also the sensible tie bar addition, contrasting collar, and impeccable white pocket square.
It looks like Hemsworth is selling himself well. But ladies, don't get too excited.
