Just a few days after kicking up some controversy at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she locked lips with her abusive ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, the 24-year-old singer unveiled her latest tattoo: a huge image of the Egyptian goddess Isis positioned beneath her breasts.
Rihanna's latest ink is a tribute to her late grandmother, Clara "Dolly" Brathwaite, who died in June after battling cancer. "Goddess Isis - Complete Woman - Model for future generations - #GRANGRANDOLLY - always in and on my heart #1love," Rihanna tweeted along with a photo in which she was strategically covering her chest.
Isis, the Egyptian goddess of rebirth, was said to be "the ideal mother and wife." She was also friends with everyone — both rich and poor.
Rihanna is one of the most tattooed young Hollywood stars. She started with fairly small tats — like a musical note on her foot — and expanded. Some of the more notable ones include her "shhh…" tattoo on her index finger, the Tupac Shakur-inspired "thug life" across her knuckles, and "rebelle fleur" (roughly "rebel flower" in French) on her neck.

Perhaps most memorably, she had a gun tattoo inked across the right side of her ribcage following her widely publicized domestic violence incident with Brown in 2009, which left her hospitalized. Although they broke up soon after, they have since made amends.
"We've been working on our friendship again," Rihanna told Oprah in August. "We're very, very close friends. We built a trust again and that's it. We love each other, and we probably always will. And that's not anything that we're going to try to change. It's not something you can shut off if you've ever been in love." And she has no time for critics. "I have to move on. I have forgiven him. It took me a long time. I was angry for a long time," she said. "I can't tell people how to feel about it. They're entitled to feel angry, because it wasn't a good thing that happened. But I have forgiven him."
