Revenge can be so sweet. Kate Upton, the 19-year-old model chosen for the cover of the 2012 Sports Illustrated, Swimsuit Edition was dissed earlier this year when one of the people behind the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Sophia Neophitou, told The New York Times that she "would never use" Upton, essentially calling her too commercial. "She's like a Page 3 girl," Neophitou said, referring to what The Times calls "the scantily-clad voluptuous women" featured in the London tabloid The Sun. "She's like a footballer's wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy." But in the latest edition of Harper's Bazaar, Kate proves the catty commentor and anyone who's ever doubted that she could pull off modeling big-name designers wrong. Upton is absolutely chic as she models looks by Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Gucci, Chloe, and other brands in an Old Hollywood-themed shoot. She poses in and around the Bevery Hills Hotel (she even wears a swimsuit near the pool!) and next to a couple of leading men, actor/rocker Jared Leto and "Parks and Rec" actor/comedian Aziz Ansari.

Then again, being highly commercial isn't such a bad thing. Kathy Ireland, who Kate has said she admires, raked in $350 million last year, according to Forbes' list of the world's richest supermodels. Upton was signed to one of the top modeling agencies last year after she posted a video of herself dancing the Dougie on YouTube that went viral, and starred in ads for Guess before her Sports Illustrated stint.
