As famous for her performance art as for her music, Lady Gaga stoppedtraffic yet again this weekend in London with her fabulously outlandishoutfits, ranging from a lace and military number to a giant black roseheaddress. The most attention-grabbing of the lot? A bejeweled lobsterheadpiece that she wore to a dinner at Mr. Chow's after the last Londonconcert of her Monster Ball tour. The glittering crustacean was thecreation of Philip Treacy, a favorite milliner of the Queen andCamilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Compared to her usual abstract creations, the lobster headdress seems relatively straightforward, though with Gaga you never can tell. Was the "Poker Face" singer paying tribute to the B-52's 1978 hit song "Rock Lobster"? Or was she just hungry for some surf 'n' turf? Along with the magnificent crustacean, Gaga had what looked to be a chicken claw attached to her arm.

London wasn't just about raiding the dress-up box for Gaga though. Having launched the M.A.C. Viva Glam campaign -- which will raise funds for the M.A.C. AIDS Fund through sales of lip gloss -- with Cyndi Lauper in the U.S., the Lady took time out from the European leg of her Monster Ball tour to kick off the campaign in Britain. To promote the charity event, Gaga stepped out wearing a head-to-toe lace bodysuit, high-heeled boots, yellow hair extensions, and a gigantic black rose headdress. Try to decipher that one, people!

Seriously, I have nothing but admiration for this true original. While the majority of the current crop of generic pop stars are auto-tuned carbon copies of each other, Gaga has consistently gone her own way. And the kicker? Her music is just as powerful as her outfits. She is style and substance all wrapped up in one bizarrely fabulous little package.
Where does she find the time to think up these incredible outfits? And more importantly, how does she not topple over under those top-heavy headdresses? Maybe that's why she's always clutching on to her burly bodyguards for support!
