When you think of today's glamorous movie stars, Salma Hayek, 45, is one of the first to come to mind. The gorgeous, Oscar-nominated "Frida" actress has a thick accent from her years in her homeland of Mexico, where she lived until her mid-20s. Now she spends most of her off-camera time in Paris, where she lives with her French businessman husband of three years, Francois-Henri Pinault, and their 4-year-old daughter Valentina. She's also usually wearing designers like Bottega Veneta (a label that belongs to the conglomerate where Pinault is CEO) and Alexander McQueen, as she does in the July issue of InStyle.

The truth, according to Hayek, is that she doesn't even struggle with the problem of striking a work-life balance like the rest of us. "I have created a very happy, healthy environment. When a job is over, I go home to my life," she tells the magazine. Hayek's work life currently includes promoting Oliver Stone's bloody movie (is there any other kind from Stone?) "Savages," in which she stars with Benicio Del Toro, Blake Lively, and Taylor Kitsch.
Back at home, she confesses that life is just as blissful — thanks, in part, to her hubby. "He's very romantic, and so am I," she notes. "What's really romantic are the moments that are unexpected. You can fly somewhere overnight to make [being together] 'important,' but it's the little things of everyday life that count." Valentina also plays a role in keeping Hayek happy. "This morning I was feeling jet-lagged," says the actress, mentioning a frequent complaint of the rich and famous. "I was still in bed when I heard somebody run into the room. Valentina jumped on my bed and hugged me, and I go, 'What are you doing? You scared me!' She started giggling and said to me, 'You desperately needed my energy.' I was so surprised she said that. A 4-year-old! And she's holding me, and it's so beautiful — and she was so right!"
