Demi Lovato vs. Jordin Sparks — Fashion Faceoff

Soon Demi Lovato will be a judge on "The X Factor," a reality TV competition show very similar to "American Idol," the one where Jordin Sparks got her start as a contestant. However, that's not all the two have in common. Both recently chose the same strapless design by Mason featuring a silk blue skirt and a black leather bustier as they hit the red carpet. Too bad the pop princesses can't sing their way out of this situation! You know what to do. It's time to decide ... who wore it best?!

Lovato, who celebrated the big 2-0 on August 20, donned the design on Tuesday at the Fanta Irresistible Awards in Mexico City. Apparently, she thought the strapless look called for a little something extra, so she added a moon-shaped necklace. The "Give Your Heart a Break" crooner also pulled her hair into an updo. The dress seems like a perfect pick for Lovato, who often mixes sweet pieces in with those that have a rock 'n' roll vibe.

But stylewatchers knew they had seen the sexy-but-sweet dress somewhere before. That's because Sparks, 22, debuted it in May at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. When the "Sparkle" star sported it, she simply accessorized it with silver bracelets and a low ponytail. Can you believe this is the same fresh-faced girl that we first saw on "Idol"?!

Now comes the judge's ruling — and sorry, Demi, you don't get to weigh in! According to my scorecard, Lovato earns points for her hairstyle, which I like. However, she seriously loses them for wearing that necklace, because it takes away from the dress' gorgeous neckline. Sparks, on the other hand, earns high marks for allowing the dress to be the main attraction. But where Sparks really pulls ahead in the competition, for me, is when it comes to fit. Her garment appears to have been perfectly tailored for her newly svelte bod, while Lovato's garment looks a little big. I say Sparks steals the style spotlight today! Do you agree?
