This Sunday marks the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. To find out what beauty trends we can expect to see on the red carpet, "The Thread's" Sarah Bernard chatted with celebrity makeup artist Bruce Grayson, who also happens to be head of the makeup department for the 2009 Primetime Emmys. Grayson predicts that the stars will be sporting bold red lips, lush lashes, and defined brows. "As far as makeup is concerned, simplicity is key," he notes. "When things heat up, less is best." Indeed.

The beauty guru also shares seven simple tips that can help even those of us who won't be sashaying down the red carpet look our very best on important occasions. Check it out:

Remember when Angelina Jolie looked like a walking corpse every time she hit the red carpet back in her "Gia" and "Girl, Interrupted" days?
