YOUR FRIENDS' ACTIVITY

    A-Line: Celebrity Style
    • A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to chat with television's best baddie and one of my favorite fashionistas: Leighton Meester. My time with the uber talented 23-year-old was limited, but it was a total treat nonetheless. After discussing the imminent release of her Universal Records debut album (cannot wait!), her new music video "Somebody To Love" (watch it on Yahoo! Music on 11/11!), and upcoming episodes of "Gossip Girl" (craziness ensues!), our talk quickly turned to fashion.

Have you always been a fashionista, or did your role in "Gossip Girl" push you in that direction?
"I've always definitely loved art, and I think that [fashion] is a form of expression, a form of art ... the same way music and acting are. Obviously when you have the means to express yourself that way, it's nicer. So, now I can definitely have a few more shoes in my closet and it's nice. [laughs]

You can never have too many shoes.
"I know, right? It's really funny; every single time I buy a pair of

    • Rihanna: ‘I’m Stronger and Wiser’

Rihanna speaks out in Glamour's December issue. - Matthias Vriens-McGrath/Glamour2009 wasn't exactly the best year of Rihanna's life, but she's ending things on a high note: Glamour has named the singer one of their 2009 Women of the Year -- and now she's speaking out to the mag for the first time about the Chris Brown incident and the message she wants to send out to young women everywhere.

      Rihanna Speaks Out in Glamour

"It taught me so much," she says of being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend and the aftermath that followed. "I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day. It was like, What, there are helicopters circling my house? There are 100 people in my cul-de-sac? What do you mean, I can't go back home?"

Making the media circus even worse was the fact that photos of her badly bruised face circulated on the Internet.

"That is not a photo you would show to anybody," she says. "I felt completely taken advantage of. I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it's

    • Blake Lively: ‘I Grew Up at Disneyland’

Blake Lively strikes a sexy pose in a Bottega Veneta bikini and cardigan on the cover of Marie Claire's December issue. - Mark Abrahams/Marie ClaireSince Blake Lively is the epitome of a California girl looks-wise, it doesn't sound all that far-fetched when she says she feels as if she "grew up at Disneyland." But the 22-year-old "Gossip Girl" is far too sexy to star in any Disney flicks.

Rebecca Miller, who directed her in the upcoming movie "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" -- where Lively plays young troubled runaway Pippa Lee to Robin Wright Penn's adult Pippa -- interviewed the actress for Marie Claire's December issue, where they discuss her challenging new role, her love of fried foods, and Disneyland.

On Lively's first day on the set of my new film, she was exhausted, having arrived at 7 a.m. after working until 3 a.m. on the pop-culture soap-smash "Gossip Girl" the night before. The fact that her first scene in the movie would entail hysterical tears and a climactic fight with her bipolar mother, played by the powerful Maria Bello, seemed to faze her only slightly at the time, though internally, it seems, it was another

But when they clean up their acts, these Hollywood heavyweights are some of the loveliest ladies to ever walk the red carpet. Her unexpected passion.
"I like to iron. Ironing is comfort. It's control. I'm a nutty person who likes to make sure everything is in its place. I am a big ball of high energy and organization and structure. Don't forget, I'm half-German."
