    • Amy Adams’ Real-Life Fairytale

Amy Adams graces the cover of W magazine. - Craig McDean/W magazineAmy Adams loves to dress up. She donned a poufy princess dress in "Enchanted," and a drab nun's habit in "Doubt." But whether she's wearing a glamorous gown or a sharp pantsuit, she clearly knows how to work the red carpet. Still, the 34-year-old admits that she hasn't fully adjusted to being a Hollywood golden girl in the latest issue of W magazine.

Take the recent Academy Awards for example. Amy's multi-colored Fred Leighton necklace was praised as much as her Oscar-nominated turn in "Doubt." But the actress' mind was elsewhere.

"I just was so reflective the whole evening on how I came to be sitting in that room," she tells W's Jenny Comita. "At one point my fiance was like, 'You feel distant.' And I said, 'I am! I can't even talk to you!' I was there at the Oscars thinking, 'What if I never left the Gap?' "

It's hard to imagine Amy working retail, but that's where she developed her sense of style. Scoring a job at Gap was "a huge deal,

    • Who Looked Sexier in Stella McCartney?

Salma Hayek dressed up her Stella McCartney frock with an interesting headpiece. - Andrew H. Walker/Getty ImagesAmanda Seyfried let the one-shoulder gown speak for itself. - Frederick M. Brown/Getty ImagesDespite the fact that this dress is far from fabulous, we need to determine which of these lovely ladies looked better in it. First off, we have the sultry Salma Hayek. The multi-talented Mexican rocked the silk Stella McCartney frock at an Art of Elysium benefit just before the Thanksgiving holiday. The pearl piece hugs her curves in all the right places. Unfortunately, her hideous headgear detracts from the overall look.

Next up, we have Amanda Seyfried. The "Mamma Mia!" star wore the same one-shoulder gown on the red carpet at this year's Golden Globes. Luckily, the blond beauty kept her accessories to a minimum. I think the color kinda washes her out and that it's a tad matronly for a 23-year-old, but I'm giving her the victory over Salma for one reason: that distracting black dome adornment.

    • Heidi Montag Goes Crazy for Chanel!

Heidi Montag proudly shows off her nails adorned with the Chanel logo. - Perkins/Shirley/PacificCoastNews.comIt was another rough day for Heidi Montag. The reality "star" was in Beverly Hills doing a little shopping at Chanel -- and apparently getting her nails done. Heidi proudly showed off her newly painted black-and-white tips, which were adorned with the Chanel logo. I think they're kind of tacky, but then again, everything that Speidi does is a bit tasteless. You can buy Chanel, but that doesn't necessarily make you classy!

    • Cat Deeley: The Hostess With the Mostest

I just can't get enough of "So You Think You Can Dance" this summer, and it's not just because of the dancing. If you haven't been watching, you might want to tune in just to see the best reality host on TV: Cat Deeley. The Emmy nominating committee may not recognize her talents (leaving her out of the running for the first ever Outstanding Reality Host category), but any good fashionista should. Cat definitely knows how to stand out next to "America's Favorite Dancer[s]." Of course, being 5' 9" tall doesn't hurt either. Check out a few of Cat's hits (and a couple of misses) from this season:

A hit - My absolute fave is this magenta swirly number by Marchesa. It takes a great figure like Cat's to pull off this kind of embellishment. The dress is different and bold, in a very current color, but not too outlandish. - Michael Becker/FOX

A hit - This sparkly lace Collette Dinnigan cocktail dress seems a bit overdone at first glance, but it somehow seems appropriate while sharing a stage with the SYTYCD crew. - Michael Becker/FOX

A hit - This vintage black dress is ultra chic, but the best part of the outfit is the Jimmy Choo shoes. They're simple and black, just like the dress, but the angled strap is to die for! I'm not sure what that big black thing in her hair is, but I barely notice it thanks to the shoes. - Kelsey McNeal/FOX

A hit - Cat donned another fab LBD by Tadashi. The V-neckline is very flattering and the skirt length, though on the modest side for Cat, is just right. I absolutely adore the volume in the skirt. The best part of this outfit is the hair: perfect waves, no gimmicks. - Michael Becker/FOX

A miss - Okay, the shoes (once again Jimmy Choo) are fab, but what's up with the George Wu triple-tie penguin dress? And the faux bob is not a good look for anyone. - Kelsey McNeal/FOX

A miss - Oh Cat, why so dowdy? This Matthew Williamson dress could be cute outside on a sunny day with flip flops and a ponytail, but on stage with droopy air-dried hair, it's kind of a bust. It's TV! Let's see some colors that pop! - Kelsey McNeal/FOX

    • Grammy Red Carpet Highlights

The 51st annual Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles last night and, once again, the red carpet was a mishmash of messes and the mundane. Fortunately for red carpet fashion watchers, some stars actually made an effort to steam the wrinkles out of their gowns and get fierce updos.

Check out a few of the night's highlights and vote for your favorite!

Taylor Swift - Aided by a naturally long and lean physique and gorgeous face, Taylor Swift turned up the heat in a black Kaufman Franco gown with a plunging neckline. She looked young, glamorous, and sexy. - Dan MacMedan/WireImage.com

Katy Perry - This look might be better suited to the Oscars than the Grammys, but considering Miss Perry's penchant for glamorous getups she can get away with it on music's biggest night. This pink Basil Soda gown looked simply gorgeous on the pop singer. - Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic.com

Kathy Griffin - Although she often makes the worst dressed list at red carpet events, Kathy finally pulled off a fab outfit and, let's be honest, some well-executed feathered hair! In her simple royal blue gown, the Emmy-winning Bravo reality show star proved that redheads don't always have to wear green to look great. - Steve Granitz/WireImage.com

In the midst of New York Fashion Week, "The Thread's" Sarah Bernard found some time to fit in a trip to former "Project Runway" winner Christian Siriano's Brooklyn loft.

    • Kim Kardashian Ties One On

Kim Kardashian shops in Beverly Hills. - IONU/X17online.comWhile out shopping at the Bev Hills store Traffic, Kim Kardashian donned an outfit that just about left me speechless.

The reality star went out in public wearing a pair of black short shorts, white top, and black platform pumps. On paper it sounds kind of cute, but did I mention the bows? Kim's chunky heels have bows, her shorts are belted with a bow, and she tops off the look with an oversized black bow tie! Kim's not the most fashion-forward gal on the block, but c'mon girl! Know when to say when.

There once was a time when I wore black pants, a white shirt, and a black bow tie, but I was waitressing at an Italian restaurant. As soon as that gig ended I vowed never to wear a bow tie again. Maybe if you grow up with the kind of money Kim Kardashian has you don't have to worry about the stigma of such an outfit.
